I will not be posting the homework on this page. In 5th grade we are working to support your child's independence and organization to fully prepare them for middle school. It is their responsibility to write down their homework each night in their planner. They will ask you to sign their planner when their homework is complete. If they forget something or they are struggling with an assignment, encourage them to write me an email and ask questions. I want students to self advocate and ask for help on their own. This is great practice for middle school! : )
District Policy
District policy and current research dictate about 10 minutes of homework per grade level each night, in addition to time spent reading. Therefore, 5th graders should receive about 50 minutes per night, not including habitual reading. Homework should be reflective of what is being worked on in class.  If your child is spending significantly longer than this on a consistent basis, please discuss the situation with Ms. Holden.  Please note, however, work that remains unfinished in class after ample time is given becomes additional homework.

Weekly Homework
* Students will be asked to complete a reading assignment, study for spelling and vocabulary quizzes, complete one page of word word, and complete a math page. The reading homework will be posted on Google Classroom. Students will login at home to access the homework.
* In addition to the weekly homework,
students are to read 25 minutes (or more) per night.
